Building Services Mechanical Engineer (Fire) - Consulting Industry

RPO Recruitment’s client, an established consulting engineering firm in Cape Town is seeking a Building Services Mechanical Engineer specialising in Fire Engineering to join its Fire Department.

This opportunity would suit an engineer with experience in fire engineering who is ready to take the next step in their career.

The role offers exposure to a variety of multidisciplinary building projects across South Africa and internationally, with the opportunity to take on increasing project responsibility and potentially progress into a Head of Department position.

Requirements

• A BTech/BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA essential.
• Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in fire engineering within a building services consulting environment.
• Knowledge of fire safety design principles and applicable South African standards.
• Experience with SANS deemed-to-satisfy and rational fire safety design approaches.
• Familiarity with firefighting equipment, fire sprinkler systems, smoke evacuation and stairwell pressurisation systems.
• Experience in thermal modelling will be advantageous.
• Strong project coordination, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities (Afrikaans proficiency essential)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to communicate professionally with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
