External Sales Representative

Job Summary

A leading concrete supplier serving the construction industry is seeking an experienced External Sales Representative to drive sales growth, expand the customer portfolio, and build lasting client relationships across the allocated territory. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving sales targets, preparing quotations and tenders, identifying new business opportunities, monitoring market trends, and ensuring excellent customer service throughout the sales process, from initial enquiry to order placement and dispatch.

Key Responsibilities

• Achieve monthly concrete sales targets in terms of volume and value.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying new business opportunities.
• Promote company products, prepare accurate quotations, and adhere to pricing guidelines.
• Prepare and follow up on tenders, quotations, and sales opportunities.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements.
• Liaise with plant managers, internal sales teams, and technical departments to meet customer needs.
• Ensure accurate customer zone allocations for pricing and transporter payments.
• Resolve customer queries promptly and professionally.
• Assist with sales action plans, forecasting, budgeting, and sales performance reporting.

Requirements

• National Senior Certificate (Matric) is essential.
• A minimum of five years' experience in senior-level sales and client liaison.
• A relevant tertiary qualification and/or qualification in concrete technology will be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of concrete products and customer requirements.
• Excellent sales, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and relevant sales systems.
• Strong written, verbal, and telephonic communication skills in English.
• Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet targets, and collaborate effectively.
• A self-motivated, energetic, adaptable, and detail-oriented approach.
